Day 2!

The plants are almost twice the size they were yesterday -- Crazy! As my mom pointed out, there's reason to worry about them getting leggy -- they'll need some actual sunlight rather than simply glow lamps. The problem there is that my room is quite dark.

Another issue: I have some mold growing in the box.

I had noticed it, but decided it seemed pretty harmless. Turns out, according to my friend Mike, it can damage the root system of the plant and make it unstable. He recommended I punch holes in the box, which I did, and give it some air time. So, during the four to five hours of rest I give it from the grow lamp I take the box lid off. We'll see how it works.

Anyhoot, enough words - here are the pictures of progress.

The box:

Morning Glory:

You can see this in the above picture too, not sure what it is but it seems to be doing fairly well amongst its viney cousins.

A little bit of carrot seems to be peaking through:

The cucumbers are doing great:

Basil:

Lettuce:

Tomato! Its friends don't seem to be doing as well, but I'm hopeful.

Milk carton with basil peaking out, much better than the dirt of yesterday.

Styrofoam doing great - I've been rotating it so that the plants don't get too bent.

And finally the plastic cup:
